Professor Arun Patil is currently the Vice-Chancellor of Sanjay Ghodawat University (SGU), Kolhapur, India. Prior to joining SGU, Professor Patil was Academic Dean (Engagement and Partnerships) and Dean for Melbourne Campus at Victorian Institute of Technology (VIT) Australia. Professor Patil has extensive academic experience in various leadership and managerial roles including Vice-Chancellor and President at Amity University Rajasthan, India; Director of Engineering Postgraduate Coursework at Deakin University, Australia; Deputy Dean (L&T) at CQUniversity, Australia. Professor Patil is an Expert member for Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA), Australia and holds several adjunct and visiting professor positions in Australia, Russia, Vietnam and India.
He holds a PhD, the MEngSc., both from Monash University, Australia with UNESCO Research Scholarships. He has also obtained M.Sc. (Applied Electronics) from Shivaji University, Kolhapur, India.
Professor Patil has received several awards including; ‘Most Innovative Vice Chancellor’ Award from the Golden AIM Awards, India; Deakin University’s award for ‘Overall Contribution to the School’; the Australian Government's Endevour Executive Award; Deakin University's Award for Overall Contribution to the School of Engineering; Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Samman Award by the NRI Welfare Society of India; the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for ‘Best Practices in Learning and Teaching’ from CQUniversity, Australia; Silver Badge of Honour from Monash University, Australia and an Award by Lions Club, India, in recognition of Overall Contribution for Excellence in Higher Education for his significant contribution to higher education.
Professor Patil is internationally recognised for his expertise in curriculum development, University Audits, Accreditation and Reviews. He has been invited by Governments and universities to facilitate several audits, workshops and seminars in Russia, Vietnam, China, India, Mauritius, Fiji, Middle East, Europe, the USA and Canada. His leadership and networking skills have resulted in several collaborations worldwide.
Professor Patil is the founding General Chair for the International Engineering and Technology Education Conference (IETEC) Series held since 2011 and he has published widely including edited books, scholarly journal articles, book chapters, conference volumes and conference papers. One of his Springer edited book; Engineering Education Quality Assurance: A Global Perspective, is highly popular and most cited in engineering education literature. He is an active member of several professional organizations including, Engineers Australia (EA), European Society for Engineering Education (SEFI), The Australian Collaborative Education Network (ACEN) and The Australasian Association for Engineering Education (AAEE).
