  • About Cell


    SGU has formed an IPR cell to bring awareness of IP among stake holders. Its primary aim is to identify and check feasibility of generating IP from student’s projects, research work and innovation cell. For IP’s with potential commercialization value, the cell will provide financial assistance and help in filling and maintaining IP.

    Objectives

    • To promote academic freedom and safeguard creation of intellectual property at the University;
    • To provide a comprehensive single window reference system for all intellectual property rights issues relating to intellectual property generated at the University;
    • To safeguard the interest of creator of intellectual property and provide fair distribution of returns accruing from the commercialization of IPR;
    • To help in introducing prudent IP management practices within the University to promote an IPR culture;
    • To preserve the academic freedom to publish the research results and to make them aware that if they do decide on public release, the patent system cannot be brought into play thereafter;
    • To ensure that once they decide to explore the prospects of commercialization of IP, they must disclose it to the University, while continuing to keep the information confidential until patent applications are being processed; and
    • To ensure the release of University’s rights relating to an IP, back to the researcher where University decides not to pursue the opportunity for commercialization.

  • Idea of the Month

    ... accelerating innovation

    The Idea of the Month activity to offers a common platform for all the stakeholders of SGU to present their creative and innovative ideas for converting them into reality. The purpose of activity is to promote the innovation culture at SGU. Any person student / teacher / supporting staff of SGU can submit the idea /concept about the innovative product / process / system every month. Only concept / working principle with method / sketch / block diagram is required. No prototyping is expected. The idea is kept secret. Potential ideas are promoted for patents. Individual or a group of people can apply and language is not a barrier. The concepts are submitted before 25th of every month. The ideas will are assessed by a scrutiny committee for Idea of the Month prize Rs. 2,000/- by first week of next month. The ideas with potential idea are funded for converting into reality if feasible (Max 10,000/-) and also supported financially for applying for patents..

  • Problem of the Month

    ... Innovative solutions for challenging problem

    The Problem of the Month activity offers a platform for all the stakeholders of SGU to apply their creative and innovative minds to offer solution/s for a given engineering problem. It is the extension of the idea of the month activity. The idea of the month is converted into the problem of the month. The purpose of activity is to promote the innovation culture at SGU. Any person student / teacher / supporting staff of SGU can submit the solution about the problem given by the Patent and Innovation cell. The problem is declared in first week of every month. The solution with prescribed drawing, details of the bill of material etc. is to be submitted within a month. The solution is kept secret. The potential solution is promoted for patents. Individual or a group of people can apply and language is not a barrier. The solutions are expected to submit before 25th day of every month. The solution and its feasibility will be checked by a scrutiny committee. The honorarium of Rs. 5,000/- and Rs. 15,000/- for the processing and materials is given for every problem on successful execution of the solution.
